The Difference between a Chauffeur and a rideshare driver.

Chauffeur driving encompasses unique elements that set it apart from ordinary driving roles. A key difference is the operation of specifically luxury vehicles, which demands specific skills and knowledge.

The service offered by a chauffeur is highly personalised, focusing on meticulous attention to etiquette, safety, and discretion. Chauffeurs are adept at selecting optimal routes for comfort and efficiency – their knowledge of the area they specialise in allows them to enhance the travel experience for their clients.

These distinctive traits underscore the specialised and prestigious nature of chauffeur driving, marking it a standout profession in the transportation sector.

While a standard driver’s primary focus is on vehicle operation, a chauffeur driver can provide personalised attention to clients, often overseeing aspects like security and schedule coordination. This broader scope of responsibilities encapsulates the chauffeur meaning: a professional who merges expert driving with outstanding customer service, enhancing not just the journey but the entire experience for the passenger.

Chauffeurs are also trained to cater for events, such as weddings, proms, funerals, and any other special occasions .

Many Chauffeurs have also completed a more experienced driving qualification, such as defensive driving, security driving as well as some having been Police trained “Blue Light” drivers.

Many Chauffeurs are members of the Institute of Advanced motorists as well as being First Aid trained.

Chauffeur driving requires a higher degree of skill and professionalism. Due to the nature of luxury vehicles, they are often much larger and more powerful than regular vehicles. They also require a specific driving style, to ensure that the client in the back remains as comfortable as possible.
They also make sure the vehicle is clean at all times as well as having the required extras inside the vehicle for the client.

Who are Shield Chauffeurs Ltd.......

Our CEO and Managing Director Sam spent many years serving as a Police Officer in the Metropolitan Police. After passing all the required courses, he became a pursuit-trained driver, so his love of driving was born. When the time came to leave and pursue a different career path, driving was the obvious and only choice, so Shield was born in August 2020.

Initially, Sam was the only driver servicing our early loyal client base. As the business grew, so did the need for additional drivers. We were fortunate to find Tashko and Paul, who are still with us today!
We now have a wonderful group of professional and trusted drivers, who all understand and embrace the company ethos of our client’s safety, comfort, and customer experience will always be our absolute focus on every journey, whether it’s a very busy CEO on their way to a conference, an airport transfer, or a night out at the Theatre.

All drivers are fully vetted, licensed, and insured. We carry out regular audits to ensure all documents are up-to-date and valid and that we always adhere to the terms of our Operator's License.

Sam takes care of the day-to-day operations, allocating the work, speaking to clients, journey planning, and of course driving! Behind the scenes, Jayne (aka The Boss), looks after the finances, invoicing, and customer care. We have recently been joined by Keeley, looking after our social feeds and helping to generate new business
